Imran Khan to appear before courts in four cases today

The former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan will appear before Islamabad courts in four cases today (Tuesday), ARY News reported.  According to details, Imran Khan is appearing before three courts in Islamabad today after being summoned, while a bail plea will be filed in the fourth case.  In Islamabad, Imran Khan will appear before Judge Rukhshanda Shaheen in a case registered under the Foreign Funding Act in the Banking Court.  He was summoned in person by the court and a decision on his bail application is expected today. Mr. Khan will also appear before the Anti-Terrorism Court of Judge Raja Jawad Hasan, where he will file a pre-arrest bail. US to crack down on child labor amid massive uptick

WASHINGTON: The Biden administration announced measures to crack down on child labor on Monday amid a steep rise in violations and investigative reports by Reuters and other news outlets on illegal employment of migrant minors in dangerous US industries. US officials said the Labor Department had seen a nearly 70% increase in child labor violations since 2018, including in hazardous occupations. In the last fiscal year, 835 companies were found to have violated child labor laws. US officials told reporters on a Monday conference call that the administration was probing the employment of children at companies including Hearthside Food Solutions and suppliers to Hyundai Motor Co <005380.KS>. It has created an interagency task force on child labor, and plans to target industries where violations are most likely to occur for investigations. MQM-P demands to extend time for household census

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has demanded the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) extend time for household census as Pakistan’s first-ever digital census will kick off on March 1 (Wednesday), ARY News reported. The MQM-P has penned down a letter to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) chairman, expressing concerns over the steps taken for first-ever digital census. MQM-P demanded to extend the time for household census, saying that allocating only three days in this regard was not enough. “It will not be possible to count houses in a densely populated city like Karachi within three days”, the letter stated. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s first-ever digital population and housing census will kick across the country from Wednesday [March 1], ARY News reported on Monday. Briefing the journalists, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) spokesperson Muhammad Sarwar Gondal noted that a portal has already been launched by the bureau so that people can submit their data themselves and don’t need to face the botheration of giving data to census teams visiting door-to-door. He said more than 4 million people have already been registered at the portal and a UTN number will be issued to them after their data is saved and they can give that number to the census team. ISLAMABAD: In the nation-wide polio vaccination campaign from January 02-29 over 62 thousand parents refused vaccination to their children, citing sources ARY News reported on Monday. ISLAMABAD: A sessions court in Islamabad accepted former prime minister and PTI chairman Imran Khan’s exemption plea for one day in the Toshakhana case, ARY News reported on Monday. Earthquake tremors were felt early Sunday morning in Awaran district of Balochistan and adjacent areas, ARY News reported. An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 on the Richter scale jolted Awaran and surrounding areas on Sunday morning. The residents came out of their homes reciting the ‘Kalma-e-Tayyaba’. KARACHI: Several passengers received minor injuries after one of the buses of the Karachi Green Line BRT lost control and hit the railing near Nagan Chowrangi on Friday morning, ARY News reported. The accident caused panic among the passengers as commuters broke the window pane to escape the bus after it crashed into the side railing. The front of the bus was damaged as a result of accident. NAB to issue another notice to Usman Buzdar

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to issue the third call-up notice to the former Punjab chief minister (CM) Usman Buzdar in connection with the probe into the assets beyond income case, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The decision was taken after Usman Buzdar did not appear before the NAB Lahore investigators today. The former CM was directed to appear before NAB along with the property, income and relevant documents. The anti-graft watchdog issued the second call-up notice to Buzdar today. The former CM was also summoned by the NAB on February 16 but he did not appear. It is pertinent to mention that Buzdar secured an interim bail from the accountability court in Lahore. Sources added that the authorities will take action against Usman Buzdar if he does not appear before the investigators again.
