Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree to increase bilateral economic, trade ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday agreed to increase bilateral economic and trade relations to enhance the business integration between the two countries. The agreement was made during a meeting between Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malkii and Caretaker Minister for Interior and Commerce Dr Gohar Ejaz held to negotiate bilateral economic cooperation. The meeting was also attended by the interior secretary, commerce secretary and other high officials. During the meeting, it was agreed to develop Pak-KSA business-to-business relations further and start negotiations for searching new business avenues. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Gohar Ejaz said that Saudi industrialists could get benefit from investment opportunities in the steel and petrochemical industry in Pakistan. RAWALPINDI: A Sepoy of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom while four others participating in the United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission sustained injuries in the attack in Abyei, the disputed area between Sudan and South Sudan, ARY News reported citing Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). According to the military’s media wing, a convoy of Pakistani peacekeepers was ambushed in Abyei while escorting two local patients to a hospital. CTD arrests supplier, recovers arms in Karachi

KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials on Saturday apprehended a suspect from Hub River Road allegedly involved in supplying arms and ammunition in Karachi, ARY News reported. The CTD spokesperson in a statement claimed that the accused, identified as Zahid, brought a large number of weapons to Karachi. The CTD officials claimed that a total of eight 9mm pistols, four 30 bore pistols, and hundreds of bullets were recovered from the possession of the arrested individual. MOSCOW: Russia President Vladimir Putin said Friday it was “obvious” Ukraine shot down a Russian IL-76 military transport plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners over the border region of Belgorod this week. According to Moscow, the plane was travelling to the region ahead of a prisoner swap on Wednesday when it was struck by anti-aircraft missiles. It said there were 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war on board. Man kills neighbour for ‘complaining about his loud snoring’

A 55-year-old man in US state of Pennsylvania allegedly killed his neighbour when the latter went to his home to complain about his persistent “loud snoring” – which the victim had complained he could hear through the walls connecting their homes. The man – identified as Christopher Casey – was arrested for fatally stabbing 62-year-old Robert Wallace on Sunday evening when an argument over the incessant and loud snoring turned deadly, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. The two men lived next to each other in Borough of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, sharing a common bedroom wall. Prosecutors noted that the conflict had been ongoing for the past 18 months, with Upper Moreland Police responding to multiple calls related to disputes between the two men over Casey’s disruptive snoring. Woman allegedly kills husband by running truck over him

In a horrific incident that made rounds on social media, a woman ran over her husband with her pickup truck and killed him. Mary Terry, 49, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. A just found probable cause for the case to move forward. Terry’s husband, Donald Britten Jr, was struck and killed on October 19 in the town of  Laona. A neighbor called 911 after seeing brake lights outside a window and then hearing  a prolonged “thud” and seeing a person lying in the street. Terry told two stories about the night, both of them ending with her husband taking her truck and somehow being struck and killed by someone unknown. In both of those stories, she walked up the street and drove her truck back to their house, first because she didn’t see her husband and then because she did. But deputies found drag marks 48 feet long leading to Britten’s body and found damage to Terry’s vehicle consistent with the injuries he suffered.

NAVI MUMBAI: The police kept searching for a 19-year-old girl for 34 days and finally found her dead and that too with the help of her former and dead boyfriend in Navi Mumbai, the city of India’s state Maharashtra. It might sound strange but officials of the Navi Mumbai police said that the jilted boyfriend of the woman allegedly killed her before committing a suicide. On December 12, the woman namely Vaishnavi Babar went missing as she did not return to her residence from college. The missing woman case was registered at Kalamboli police station. On the same day, the police came to know that a man namely Vaibhav Burungale must be in his early 20s committed a suicide by jumping in front of a local train at Juinagar railway station. The investigators however found a suicide note from the man’s mobile phone which also had a “Code”. KARACHI: A woman allegedly involved in selling and purchasing newborns, kidnapped from hospitals and villages, has been arrested from Karachi, ARY News reported. Kharadar police, in a statement, said that an infant kidnapped from Thatta has also been recovered from the accused woman – identified as Fatima. The police said that the accused woman had bought the newborn for Rs200,000 from Thatta and came to Karachi with an intention to sell the baby at higher prices. The police said that the accused woman was arrested by the law enforcers during patrolling.
