Four children killed in Quetta gas blast

QUETTA: Four children were killed in a gas explosion in Quetta on Wednesday, ARY News reported, quoting police. The house located in Quetta’s Kharotabad area exploded when a family member in the morning lit a match to ignite fire, in the gas-filled premises, police said. The blast resulted in the death of four children and injuries to two women. Rescue teams reached the scene and shifted the dead bodies and injured persons to the hospital. Fawad Chaudhry arrested by Islamabad police

LAHORE: Islamabad police arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry from his residence for ‘threatening’ Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) members, ARY News reported on Wednesday. A case against Chaudhary was registered last night at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad on the complaint of Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Omer Hamid Khan. The first information report (FIR) was lodged against him for using ‘threatening’ language against the ECP and its members. The PTI leader has been booked under sections 153-A (promotion of enmity between groups), 506 (criminal intimidation), 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) and 124-A (sedition) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Pakistan’s seventh census delayed for a month

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has announced that the seventh digital housing and population census has been delayed for a month due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’, ARY News reported. According to notification issued by the Planning Ministry, the seventh census field operation was earlier planned to be conducted from February 1 to March 4, 2023. “However, due to some unavoidable circumstances and keeping in view the ground realities, it has been decided in the fifth progress review meeting of the census monitoring committee (CMC) to start the field operation of the census from 1 March to 1 April, 2023,” the ministry’s notification read. The census, which will be conducted digitally, will continue for a month and conclude on April 1. The approval for seventh census was given during the Council of Common Interest’s (CCI) 49th meeting held on January 13. All grid stations ‘restored’ after major power outage, claims Energy Ministry

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Energy claimed on Tuesday that all 1,112 grid stations of the country’s national grid have been “restored” after a major 24-hour power breakdown, ARY News reported. “All 1,112 grid stations restored within 24 hours nationwide,” tweeted the ministry. According to the Ministry of Energy, 48 to 72 hours are usually required to re-link power plants of about 9500 megawatts to the transmission system after any power breakdown.
