NAB yet to decide on Usman Buzdar’s arrest

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) headquarters failed to make a conclusive decision for arresting the former Punjab CM Usman Buzdar in the assets beyond income case, ARY News reported on Wednesday. Sources told ARY News that the anti-corruption watchdog failed to make a final decision regarding the arrest of the former Punjab CM Usman Buzdar. It was learnt that the authorities are still working on legal framework after the amendments to the NAB Ordinance. Sources added that the NAB high-ups are reluctant to arrest Buzdar amid inquiry-level probe. As per the law, the status of the case against Buzdar should be upgraded to the investigation level for his arrest. They said that it is also mandatory to run the inquiry at least six months before arrested the accused. The high-ups mulled over issuing another call-up notices to the former chief minister in the assets beyond income case. Sindh cabinet approves LG Act amendments to empower mayors

KARACHI: Sindh cabinet has approved key amendments to the Local Government Act for empowering the LG institutions, mayors and UC chairmen and decided to pass the changes from the assembly at the earliest, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The Sindh cabinet approved the LG Act amendments to hand over powers to the mayors and UC chairmen to head the development authorities in their respective divisions and districts across the province. Following the LG Act amendments, the Karachi mayor will be ex officio of the Karachi Development Authority (KDA), Lyari Development Authority (LDA) and Malir Development Authority (MDA). The Hyderabad mayor will be the chairman of the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA). The chief executive of the regional solid waste management will be appointed among three shortlisted officers with the consultation of the concerned mayor. Mother, son stabbed to death in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: A mother-son duo was stabbed to death by an unidentified assailant in Rawalpindi, whereas, the father was left seriously wounded, ARY News reported on Tuesday. Three persons including two women were killed in two separate incidents in Rawalpindi today. In Kallar Syedan, a man gunned down his sister. In a separate incident, a man entered a house and stabbed a woman and her son to death besides injuring the father. The attacker fled from the scene. Cop among two wounded in Islamabad firing

ISLAMABAD: Two persons including a cop got injured after unidentified assailants opened fire in Islamabad’s Sangjani area on Monday, ARY News reported. Unidentified armed men opened fire in the Sangjani area of Islamabad, leaving a cop namely Zafarullah and a citizen wounded. The attackers managed to flee from the scene. CCTV: Assailants barge into house, gun down 65-year-old man

Four unidentified men barged into a house and shot dead a 65-year-old man in broad daylight in Moga City of India’s Punjab. The deceased was identified as Santokh Singh, 65, a resident of Bhagat Singh Nagar in Moga City. The incident was captured on a CCTV camera, setup in the alley where the victim’s house was located.
