ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif hailed the successful hosting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Government meeting as a major achievement for Pakistan on the diplomatic front. Addressing a banquet organised in honor of senators of the government allied parties here in Islamabad, the prime minister sid that Pakistan’s diplomatic profile further strengthened internationally after successfully hosting the SCO summit. Congratulating the allies on the successful conclusion of the SCO summit in Pakistan, PM Shehbaz said all relevant institutes worked together as a team in this regard. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) reiterated its stance against the proposed constitutional amendments, terming them unlawful and unjust. In a statement, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said that the the PTI will continue to protest across the country, as it is ‘our fundamental right’. He said that the PTI will hold a nationwide protest on Friday, saying that the party will oppose the constitutional amendments. Salman Akram Raja turned down the impression of grouping in the party ranks, adding that differences of opinion within any party are natural. The PTI leader said that this parliament lacks the authority to make constitutional amendments. “The way constitutional amendments are being passed is flawed,” he added. ISLAMABAD: The federal government announced on Tuesday to maintain the petrol price across Pakistan, ARY News reported. As per the notification, the price of petrol remains unchanged at Rs247.03 per liter. However, the price of High-speed diesel jacked up by Rs5 per liter to reach Rs251.29 per liter. The prices of light diesel and Kerosene oil also remain unchanged. Reports had earlier said that petroleum prices were set to increase in Pakistan in line with the upward trend in the global market. Sources had said that the cost of major petroleum products, including petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), was likely to rise by around Rs5.50 and Rs13 per litre, respectively, starting October 16. Moreover, the federal government of Pakistan was also expected to increase the profit margin for oil companies by Rs1.35, raising it to Rs9.22 per litre. In a statement issued here, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that he was informed by the government about Imran Khan’s medical checkup at Adiala Jail. The PTI chairman, citing the government’s sources, said that two doctors, an ENT specialist, and a medical expert examined Imran Khan at about 4 pm. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that the medical team confirmed that Imran Khan is in good health and even exercised for an hour. KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon formed a high-level committee to probe into police action against journalists and protestors outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC), ARY News reported. The IGP constituted a three-member committee to investigate the alleged police brutality against journalists and protesting women. The committee will be headed by DIG Special Branch and comprising SSP Aviation and SP Investigation. The committee has been tasked with probing into the alleged torture and to submit its report within five days. A formal notification in this regard has also been issued.
