ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Monday congratulated Donald Trump on assuming the office as the 47th President of the United States (US).

In separate felicitation messages, the president and prime minister extended their best wishes for the new US President.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his official X timeline wrote: “My warmest congratulations to Donald Trump on his assumption of office as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen the enduring Pakistan-U.S. partnership.”

He said over the years, both the two great countries had worked together closely to pursue peace and prosperity in the region and beyond for their people, adding, “and we shall continue to do so in the future.”

He extended his best wishes to President Trump for a successful second term in office.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s agriculture sector witnessed a growth of 6.25 percent as compared to 2.27 percent during the same period the previous year. The Economic Survey of Pakistan read that the agriculture sector in Pakistan witnessed robust growth in FY2024, with an overall increase of 6.25 percent. The rise in production of important crops (16.82%) is attributed to the production of cotton (108.2%, 10.22 million bales compared to 4.91 million bales), rice (34.8%, 9.87 million tonnes compared to 7.32 million tonnes), and wheat (11.6%, 31.44 million tonnes from 28.16 million tonnes). However, sugarcane and maize declined by 0.4 percent and 10.4 percent, respectively, which can be partially attributed to the crop switching. Transport Canada declares Pakistan’s aviation security satisfactory

KARACHI: In a major development, the security delegation from Transport Canada on Wednesday completed the security audit of Jinnah International Airport, ARY News reported. According to Airports Security Force (ASF), the team conducted thorough inspection of the security arrangements in place at the airport and found them satisfactory. During the audit, the ASF team comprising National Inspectors gave a briefing to the Transport Canada team. The assessment team was given briefing on security deployment, entry control, screening, issuance of passes and addressing emergency situations. The Transport Canada team commended the efforts of the ASF for taking additional measures to ensure the safety of the Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) direct flights to Canada.
